Welcome to Cubic Rumble

a 2-6 player game.

OBJECTIVE

A player wins when they remove a majority of an opponent’s pieces(> 8 pieces) or when they successfully form a super mill(a horizontal or vertical contiguous line of 8 or more of their pieces).

SETUP

  • Players have a cube that is divided into 16 segments on each face.
  • Each player has access to 12 color-coded pieces

BEGINNING

For the beginning phase, the players take turns placing a series of 6 pieces on any side of the cubic faces.

ACTIONS

  • Once all pieces have been placed, players have 3 actions per turn, where the player can do a number of different things for their action.
  • Actions: Move a piece to an adjacent unoccupied spot, Attack an enemy piece on an adjacent spot, place a piece on an unoccupied space.
  • At anytime, if a player forms a mill (a horizontal or vertical contiguous line of three of their pieces), they shall remove one of their opponent’s pieces from the cube, and the player is now able to attack the pieces on the other side of the board.
  • Whenever the player destroys an opponent’s mill(making the mill be less than 3 pieces.), the player can place back onto the cube up to three pieces to any spot not next to their own piece.

ATTACKING

  • When attacking each player gets a 4-sided die, and the one who has the highest dice roll wins, if a mill is attacking, they get to use 2 4-sided die.  A removed piece cannot be placed back on the board unless otherwise stated.

Ancient game it was based on: Nine Men's Morris

-  This was a 2 player game from long ago where each player takes turn placing 9 pieces each, in hopes of forming mills (a horizontal or vertical line of three). When forming mills, a player can remove the opponent's pieces off the board, and in some variations of the game, like tiktaktoe, the main objective is to make mills and defeat your opponent.  An interesting part of the game is the movement feature where the player can move the pieces to adjacent places and if the player loses enough pieces they can "fly" their pieces to different places on the board that are not adjacent.
